Sometimes friends are there to help you face reality, because they know the real you - inside out.
I’ve known someone who had been my smoking buddy for years, and just the other day when I needed a smoking buddy, she said “Sorry, no more smoking for me.”, and I said “Bullshit, that I’ve known you for quite some time, and you and I both know that resolution thing is really CRAP, so cut the crap out and join me for a cancer stick damnit” - but then she resisted, and I didn’t force her.
Yesterday on my way home, I saw her smoking infront of a tindahan near our house - and she was shocked upon seeing me, and threw a whole unlit cancer stick away upon seeing the bored look on my face.
I said, “You know, you don’t have to pretend that you’ve quit the habit.” Then I walked away. “This is the 4th time you broke that so called resolution. I just needed a smoking buddy the other day - You know that this is a tough time for me.”.
Having heard what I said, she took out a few sticks of marlboro black, and handed me a stick, and smoked our worries away.
So kids, there are 3 morals of my story:
1. Don’t say that you ‘quit’ smoking - for a new and fresh start, when you’re secretly smoking. What’s the point of lying to your friends anyway?
2. Don’t turn down a friend who needs a good smoke.
3. Don’t pretend in front of your best friends - they know who you are, so just be yourself - they accept who you are.
oh, and if you have something against smokers, we’re people too - call us yucky if you want, we don’t care, if it’s just a stage - or if smoking is really part of our life - go live your clean life. you may not know it, but most smokers are damn honest about what they feel in life.
